The medical officer and nurses participated
in the pilot implementation of RESBAKUNA KIDS: COVID-19 vaccination roll out to
learners ages 5-11 in the province on March 18, 2022. The vaccination drive is
vital to the gradual re-introduction of face-to-face classes and the general
welfare of Filipino learners.
As of March 23, 2022, 1,546 children ages
5-11 have been vaccinated with a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Rural Health
Units and parents are encouraged to ramp up and continue pre-registering their
children to ensure many kids get vaccinated against the deadly infection.
In support to this, the School Health
Section will conduct Pediatric Vaccination Orientation and Campaign to parents
and school personnel on various dates on the following month. The activity aims
to underscore the importance of pediatric vaccination as an effective strategy
to eventually put an end to the pandemic, and to correct myths and
misconceptions.
The Department of Health continuously
reminds the Filipino people that vaccination is not mandatory and consent is a
must. It also emphasizes that getting children vaccinated against COVID-19 is
the best practice in achieving maximum protection against the virus. However, being
vaccinated with COVID-19 is not a requirement for participation of learners to
face-to-face classes.
